This picture was taken by Wanda from last summer when I went back to Portales for my high school reunion. Mom, Wanda, Grandma Berta, and I went to dinner the night before I left. We picked her up - went to eat Mexican food and had a great visit. I wanted to spend a little bit of time with her while I was there.
I have MANY MANY wonderful memories of growing up with my grandmother. I remember always having a good time staying at her house, going to a ball games, visiting Grandma Merrick in Causey, going to church with her, and many more memories. The first time I ever tried to drive was in her car on our way back to Portales from Causey. We made many trips to Causey . . . even after Grandma Merrick passed away. I will always consider my grandmother as one of the biggest influences in my life when I was growing up. I have really missed not being closer to her over the past 22 years. She will always have a special place in my heart.
By the way, this picture makes me look REALLY big. I mean I know I am a little overweight - but I'm not THIS huge. Ugh - bad angle! I'm trying to lose some weight . . .

Evan - I think i'm going to cry! That was so good to read, I have so many good memories of those days too. So so many good memories. Remember when we spent the weekend with gram'berta ... Seems like it was just going to be a night but it snowed so we stayed several days. That is one of my best memories - a weekend with her and you and Leah. Yes, I remember that time just like it was yesterday! We had SO much fun! I remember the song "Nobody" and how we tried to request that on the radio. Crazy! Good times!
